When you participate in a contest we keep a record of the information, response or any opinion that you volunteer. We may use whatever you submit for the purpose of awarding a prize in a contest, to calculate the contest results on our Web sites or in other media such as business documents or leaflets sent to our clients. The identities of contest winners are never published without their consent.
Rules
ELIGIBILITY
- 1. The “WIN one of 4 $250 Gift Cards” Contest is held by Traders General Insurance Company. It is open to individuals who are residents of Canada, who have reached the age of majority where they reside and who, between September 1st, 2008 and January 31, 2009 inclusively, and according to the present rules:
- are clients of TW Insurance Brokers and provide Traders General Insurance Company with the expiry date of their home or automobile* insurance policy; or
- and request/agree to receive a quote on home or automobile* insurance from Traders General Insurance Company
Providing the expiry dates of motorcycle insurance policies, requesting/agreeing to receive quotes on motorcycle insurance and holding motorcycle insurance policies are excluded from participation in the contest.
* Due to provincial legislation, our automobile insurance program is not offered in British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Therefore, contest is void in these three (3) provinces in regards with inscriptions to the contest through automobile insurance.
- No purchase is required. All eligible persons who provide the expiry date of their home or automobile insurance policy, or who request/agree to receive a free, no-obligation quote on home or automobile insurance, according to the present rules, will be automatically entered into the contest.
- There is a limit of one (1) entry per person per insurance category (one entry for automobile insurance and one entry for home insurance) during the contest period.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Expiry Dates
4.1 Electronic form
Participants may also send the expiry date of their home or automobile insurance policy by using the electronic form available at www.twinsurance.ca Once the form has been duly completed, participants simply need to click on the “Submit” button and the form will be sent automatically to Traders General Insurance Company and entered in the contest, if eligible. Only reply forms with all required fields duly completed and received by January 31, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. (EST) will be accepted for entry into the contest. (An asterisk on the form identifies the required fields.) Participants may also send in their expiry dates by mailing in the expiry date, name, address, phone number and group affiliation to Traders General Insurance Company at 140 4th Avenue SW, Calgary, AB T2P 3W4.
4.2 Telephone
Participants may also transmit their home or automobile insurance policy expiry date via the telephone to the Traders General Insurance Company insurance professionals during the contest period. Quotes
5.1 Telephone
Participants may also enter the contest by calling the above-mentioned number in order to request a home or automobile insurance quote or by agreeing to receive a quote from a group sales representatives regarding home or automobile during the contest period. They will have to provide their first name, last name, street address, city, province, postal code and telephone number, as well as all the information requested to complete the home or automobile quote. This information will then be sent automatically to Traders General Insurance Company for participation in the contest. Only entries duly completed with all required information by January 31, 2009 at 11:59 p.m.(EST) will be accepted and entered in the contest, if eligible.
5.2 E-quote
Participants may also enter the contest by filling out the quote form available at www.twinsurance.ca. Once they have reached the selected page, they may click on “Auto insurance quote” button and complete the quote form. To do so, they must follow the different steps of the quote application and fill out all mandatory fields such as e-mail address, first name, last name, complete address, postal code and telephone number, as well as all the information requested to complete the quote. Only quote forms with all required fields duly completed with adequate information on the participant and received by January 31, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. (EST) will be accepted and entered in the contest, if eligible.
Policyholders
Draw
- Four draws will be held during the contest period. The draws will take place at 10:00 a.m. (EST) on Feb 1st 2009 at the Traders General Insurance Company office located in Calgary. On that date, one winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries received from participants between September 1st, 2008 and January 31st, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. (EST), according to the contest rules. Odds of winning depend on the total number of entries received.
Prize
- The prize consists of one of 4 $250 Gift Cards to the winners choice of one of the following retailers: Future Shop, Chapters, Petro Canada or Canadian Tire. ($250 CDN) including taxes. The winner can also exchange their prize for the same amount in cash (ie two hundred and fifty dollars ($250 CDN).
- The prize must be accepted as described herein and may not be exchanged or substituted by another prize, except as described herein. The winner will have fourteen (14) days after his/her status of winner is confirmed, as mentioned in Section 14, to decide whether he/she will take the prize described in these contest rules or the cash amount. Once the winner has decided and sent a written confirmation to Traders General Insurance Company, no further changes will be accepted.
- 9. The prize must be accepted as described herein and may not be exchanged or substituted by other prizes. Prize shall be void if the winner does not take the $250 Gift Card within one (1) year of being declared the winner. If the winner chooses the cash instead of Gift Card, a cheque of two hundred and fifty Canadian ($250 CDN) will be made in the winner’s name and will be given to him or her within four (4) weeks after Traders General Insurance Company receives his/her choice of prize.
GENERAL RULES

- The reply forms (paper and electronic) received will be subject to verification by Traders General Insurance Company. All incomplete, inaccurate, illegible, late or facsimile reply forms will be automatically cancelled. Traders General Insurance Company's decision to this effect is final and cannot be appealed.
- The electronic quote forms will also be subject to verification by Traders General Insurance Company. All incomplete, inaccurate, late or facsimile quote forms, as well as any fraudulent participation, as the case may be, will be automatically rejected. Traders General Insurance Company's decision to this effect is final and cannot be appealed.
- Traders General Insurance Company or its agents will attempt to contact (by phone, e-mail or mail) the potential winner selected at random, using the entry information. If the potential winner cannot be contacted within fourteen (14) days of the draw date, then Traders General Insurance Company or its agents will draw another name on a random basis and will attempt to contact the next selected potential winner in the same manner and so on until a potential winner is contacted.
- Before being declared a winner, the persons selected at random must answer correctly, without assistance and within a limited time period, a mathematical skill-testing question. The question will be submitted by phone to the randomly selected person, at a previously determined time. In the event of a correct response, the winning contestant will then be informed on how he/she can take possession of his/her prize.
- Before taking possession of the prize, the contest winners must agree to sign a release form, releasing Traders General Insurance Company, its affiliate companies and agents from all liability in respect to any damages that he/she may suffer as a result of accepting and using his/her prize.
- In the event that Traders General Insurance Company is unable to award the Gift Card as described herein, for reasons beyond its control not related to the winner, the Sponsor reserves the right to award a prize of the same nature and of equal or greater value, or at its sole discretion, the cash value of the prize indicated in these rules.
- The contest is open to residents of Canada (excluding companies, partnership or other business) who have reached the age of majority where they reside and who are eligible participants according to these rules, with the exception of members of personnel, agents and representatives of Traders General Insurance Company or its affiliates (defined as all of the companies affiliated with AVIVA Canada Inc.), its advertising or promotion agencies, and the suppliers of the prize, equipment and services related to this contest, and any persons living under the same roof.
- By participating in this contest, the winner authorizes Traders General Insurance Company and their representatives to use his/her name, place of residence, photographs, image, voice and/or statements regarding his/her prize for advertising purposes (such as Internet and print ads) without any compensation, and subject to the release form (as mentioned in Section 15 of the present rules) signed by the winner.
- For the purpose of these rules, the participant is the person whose name appears on the reply form (paper or electronic), on the electronic quote form or who calls to give an expiry date or to request a quote. In regards with existing policyholders of an insurance policy, the participant is the person who is the one insured. In the event that more than one person is registered on the winning entry, all such persons will be jointly declared winners of the prize. They will then have to decide which one of them will answer the skill-testing question and receive the prize. In case of a disagreement between them, Traders General Insurance Company reserves the right to decide to which person the skill-testing question will be asked and receive the prize.
- Traders General Insurance Company, its affiliated companies, their advertising and promotional agencies, their employees, agents and representatives are not liable for faulty computer components, software or links, the loss or non-existence of communications capability, or faulty, incomplete, incomprehensible, or erased computer or network transmissions that render an individual ineligible for this contest. Traders General Insurance Company, its affiliated companies, their advertising and promotional agencies, their employees, agents and representatives waive all liability from any damage or loss that could arise, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from downloading any software and by transmitting any data relating to the participation in this contest. Persons found tampering with or abusing any aspect of this contest, as solely determined by Traders General Insurance Company, will be disqualified. If disqualified for any of the above abuses, Traders General Insurance Company reserves the right to terminate a participant’s eligibility to participate.
- Traders General Insurance Company reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, modify, terminate or suspend this Contest, in whole or in part, if an event or any human intervention corrupts or affects the administration, security, impartiality or the normal running of this Contest as provided for in these rules, subject to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec (“Régie”), if required. In any case, Traders General Insurance Company, its affiliated companies, their advertising and promotional agencies, their suppliers of material or services related to this Contest as well as their employees, agents and representatives cannot be held to award more prizes or to award the prize otherwise than in compliance with these rules.
- By entering this contest or trying to do so, all persons release Traders General Insurance Company, its affiliated companies, their advertising and promotional agencies, their employees, agents and representatives from any damage which could arise from their participation or attempt to participate in the contest.
